snow

I spent my week's holiday down south with Brian, including two days at the snow. That was very exciting, since the last time I saw snow was when I was 7... and my memory is not that great. I jumped around excitedly when snow began to fall. Brian jumped around excitedly when I began to fall...again, and again, and again. Honestly, I don't know how anyone stays upright in that stuff.

I stood in cow poo unknowingly, and then tracked it all through our van, which we were sleeping in. I got it all over my friend's ski outfit, all over the bed....

"This is why you take a torch when you're going to the bathroom at night", I said to Brian wisely.

"No", he replied. "This is why you take your shoes off before you get into bed!"

Hmm...had a point, I suppose.

So now I'm back to work and study, and faced with the same annoyingly shallow gene pool as ever. My latest favourite phone call happened the other night -

woman - "Yeah, hi. My daughter's superglued her eye shut. It's really hurting her, and she can't see. Should I get her to a doctor?"

me - (rolling my eyes) "That would probably be a good idea."

woman (after internally debating it for far longer than I thought could be possible) "Okay. Right. I'll get her dinner and get the other kids to bed, then I'll pop in a bit later, okay?"

Apparently so....
