My best friend Kate is a Paediatric Emergency RN too. There are two paediatric hospitals in Brisbane, and we work at separate ones. But it's good for sharing stories. These are hers... 1) A mother heard her little boy screaming from inside the house one day, and she came running in to find him holding an unmarked bottle, with blood and blisters in and around his lips. Instead of joining the dots and ringing an ambulance, she takes the bottle and HAS A SWIG herself to test it! 2) Along a similar vein, another mother didn't believe her son had burned his face with the iron, so (instead of holding her hand near the iron to see if it was warm) put it against HER face!! Matching iron imprints...
