So, happy 2008 to anyone who still stumbles across this now and then. For me, 2007 was a great year. Started off a little crap with some work issues, but the fact that I overcame all the crapness really made my year. I haven't felt that ... capable... in a long time. Starting midwifery this year, a year long postgraduate diploma which is mostly practical in nature - 1 day of classes, and 3 days of prac per week, while still working in Kid's Emergency. The best part is that it's paid prac, so no poor student status for me! Started learning (self taught) photography this past year, so I'm fully immersed in that aspect of art at the moment, whilst still doing some paintings/drawings - mostly by comission. Trying to get fit again by riding my (new!) bike as much as I can. If only the whole world's landscape was perpetually downhill! In mid 08, Brian and I will move into his parents place to mind it for them whilst they travel Australia. So, that will be great for saving some money - hopefully one day we'll actually be able to afford a place of our own. I'm well and truly sick of renting and real estate agents who couldn't care less. May have an extra job lined up coaching acrobatics for an hour a week - pays something ridiculous like $30/hr ($5 more than what I get paid as an RN), which would be some extra fun and exercise for me. Our bird, a rainbow lorikeet called Ernie, gives me many laughs every day. He's so smart, and says "Hello!", "Pretty boy", "What's doin'?", "Oh!", "Come On", "Pretty", "Apple?", "See Ya!" (which sounds a lot like "Hello", strangely enough :-) His favourite game is lying on his back, feet in the air, while I spin him around in circles on the tiles of the kitchen. His favourite toy is my set of keys. He's very much a Mummy's boy, and will spend every second of his time with me as opposed to Brian. I've read that they can switch preferred humans as they reach sexual maturity, so I'm making the most of him while he still prefers me. So that's my short update that is my 2007/2008. Hope everyone else is happy and healthy wherever they may be in the world.
